Another website has launched in reply to the Hallō Nelson developers who are trying to build an exclusive resort community in Nelson, British Columbia, a city that is currently undergoing a major housing crisis.
Called Exposé Hallō, the website is particularly problematic for the developers as it has a simliar URL (hallonelson.ca) and is now ranking as high in the search engine listings as the original.
It was created by an anonymous Nelson local who says of his site, "Exposé Hallō humorously dissects the ambitious plans of Hallō Properties, a developer with a vision for luxury resorts across British Columbia.
"It specifically focuses on the proposed transformation of Granite Point Golf Course, part of a larger development aimed at creating an upscale, resort-style community in Nelson."
The Exposé Hallō website creator goes on to say his site, "highlights the grandiose promises of the project, including lavish amenities like boutique hotels, spas, and exotic restaurants. The site sheds light on the disconnect between the marketing hype and the practical realities of developing such a project in Nelson, a town known for its community values and environmental consciousness."
He goes on to say, "Exposé Hallō aims to be part of a broader community discussion about development priorities, luxury versus local needs, and the feasibility of such projects in small, culturally rich towns."
The Exposé Hallō site includes a hilarious "What They Say and What We Hear" video showcasing actual footage of developer Graham Kwan admitting he looks for authentic, unspoiled places for their properties. The second part of the video challenges the very nature of a development such as Hallō with such statements as "Nelson prides itself on inclusivity. What better place to build an exclusive resort?"
The website also has an "About" section that details the "tenuous relationship with reality" that Kwan and business partner Farhad Ebrahimi have, as well as a section for potential buyers warning them of the development's pitfalls and one for locals that explains how we got to this place.
